Micro FUE technique is the current state of the art hair transplantation technique. It is a relatively new procedure that is gaining acceptance by physicians and patients alike. In the Micro FUE hair transplantation technique, hair follicles are removed from the donor area as follicular units also known as micro-grafts. Micro-grafts contain one, two or three hair roots, depending upon the unit structure of the given follicle, and some skin and subcutaneous tissue. The term refers to the technique of follicle (graft) harvesting. It is a method that is used to transfer hair follicles (graft) harvested from the site between two ears, on the back of the head to the bald area with the desired angle. Hair follicles are harvested using a special tool named micro-motor that has a special tip. Thickness of the tips used with micro-motor varies between 0.6 to 0.7 mm. Thus, 3000-7000 grafts can be extracted. This technique allows obtaining a very natural outcome. FUE is a minimal invasive technique used for hair transplant. This method eliminates pain, scars, infections, open wounds and scarring after the operation. Rapid healing is observed when this method is used and the patient can go back to daily routine in a very short time.

Significant number of persons change their mind when they are informed about the requirement of shaving the hair. Several methods have been researched and implemented to make life easier for such persons. This method is ideal particularly for persons who suffer from limited hair loss. Persons planning to undergo no shave hair transplant are required to grow their hair before the operation. Thin strips are taken from the donor site in order to harvest grafts. Thin strips are removed from the donor site in no shave hair transplant method while hair is cut entirely in FUE technique; however, the remaining procedures are the same for both methods. Post-operation healing process is the same for both techniques.

Hair implant is a procedure applied to transfer hair follicles (graft) harvested one by one from the back of the scalp to the bald recipient site. Small slits are opened to place hair follicles during the transfer (transplant). DHI procedure eliminates the requirement of opening these slits. Small scars do not appear as a result of this procedure. In this method, grafts harvested for the transplant are directly transferred to the bald area using a special tool, without keeping them in the external environment for a long time and opening slits in the bald area. Any other remaining procedures are applied as is done with the FUE technique. However, this procedure takes longer time than FUE technique and it is applied to individuals with limited bald areas due to the fact that placement of grafts with special needles is time-consuming.

High-tech equipment’s success ratio with the recovery of scars is not higher than 20-30%. The scar is relatively remarkable when it is in an area with hair. There is no technology that can eliminate the scar in the hairy area. The best method to avoid this appearance is to transplant hair in that area. Hair transplants particularly in eyebrow, moustache, bread and scalp lead to very satisfying results.

Successful developments are achieved in hair transplant using body, chest hair and hair from legs and arms. This method is preferred when the recipient site is wide and donor site is not sufficient. FUE technique is used with this procedure. However, structure of body hair and hair on the scalp is different. Body hair is curly. In case of body hair transplant, hair grows in accordance with the original structure but after a few years, it adapts to the recipient area and takes up characteristics of that area. Planned extraction can be performed first from the back of the scalp and then from the chest, external arm and shoulder areas depending on the size of the recipient area. Grafts extracted from the back of the scalp and the body are distributed in proportion with the recipient area. If grafts are not distributed as such, the hair that grows after operation does not have a nice appearance. Natural appearance will be achieved when hair adapt to the hair structure in the recipient area. However, the number of grafts that can be extracted from the body is limited. High level of attention must be paid while planning this operation.

There is no treatment for beard and moustache areas with missing hair growth. The only solution of this problem is hair transplant. Restoration of hair in the beard area is ideal for individuals with thinning, scar, burn and surgery scarring problems. The procedure is performed using FUE technique. Grafts harvested with FUE method are transferred in accordance with the shape of face. In average, 1000-3000 grafts are transferred in these operations.

Moustache restoration is applied in case of balding, scar, burn, surgery scarring, etc. in the moustache area. FUE method is used for hair transplant in the moustache area. As is the case with hair transplant, grafts extracted from the back of the scalp are transferred to the face, achieving a natural appearance.

Cicatrices occur 10 days after the beard and moustache transplant. Washing is permitted 3 days after the operation. Shaving with blades and shaving machine is permitted upon expiry of 6 months and 1 month after the operation, respectively.

Temporary hair loss may be experienced in the recipient site 3 weeks later. Hair starts to grow slowly 3 months after the operation and final appearance is obtained with the grafts in the end of 1 year.

Hair is very important for women and there are numerous factors causing hair loss.

Causes of hair loss for women:

  • Thyroid gland diseases
  • Pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding
  • Chemotherapy
  • Seasonal hair loss
  • Dermal diseases
  • Stress
  • Genetic reasons

Causes of hair loss is investigated. A treatment regime must be applied if remedy is possible with medication. Hair transplant method is implemented in case of genetic and permanent hair loss when medication therapy does not solve the problem.

There is no difference between hair transplant procedures applied to men and women. In women, hair follicles (graft) harvested one by one from the donor site are transferred to the bald areas. It does not have any adverse effects on health.

However, patience is required as it take long time for hair to grow. Transplanted hair may fall 2 weeks later. The hair grows slowly 3 months after the start of the falling. This process will continue for about 1 year.

Eyebrows are very important for the integrity and impression of our face. Eyebrows may be lost due to scars, burns, accidents, traumas and some skin diseases.

Eyebrow transplant is applied to individuals for the aforementioned reasons or when they want thicker eyebrows.

In eyebrow transplant, grafts harvested from the back of the scalp are transferred to the eyebrow area in a specific angle. Very thin tools are used in this method. A rule of thumb in this method is to draw a natural line that is perfect match for the individual’s face in order to transplant the hair accordingly. Anatomic features of the individual are taken into consideration during drawing.

Cicatrices are formed 1 week after the eyebrow transplant. Transferred hair is lost during the post-operative period of 3 months and they slowly grow back after the 3rd month. Eyebrows take up the intended shape after 1 year.

Grafts harvested for eyebrow transplant may grow long after transfer to the eyebrow area. Hair must be cut and trimmed within 15 day-intervals. The growing rate of eyebrows is reduced after 1 year as transplanted grafts adapt to the recipient site and the requirement of cutting for the purpose of shaping shall also be reduced.
